Dr. Scott Darling

The training, background and experience of a Vein Specialist is important in obtaining quality results for the treatment of your varicose and spider veins. To make sure you receive the best vein treatment by the most qualified physician possible, I recommend following these guidelines when choosing your Liberty vein specialist:

1) Experience counts! Has the physician been treating vein disease for years, or has he recently entered the field of venous disease/phlebology? Does the physician have the Dermatologic experience to treat the associated skin conditions and ulcerations with vein disease?

2) Ultrasound: the practice should have an in-office ultrasound, where diagnostic Doppler ultrasound evaluation can be performed, which is a critical in determining the source and best treatment for your own vein disease. Either the doctor or the ultrasound technologist should be a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), and the physician should be a RPVI (Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation).

3) The Vein Specialist should be accredited by the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine – the governing board in the study/practice of vein disease.

4) Entire range of vein disease – a reputable vein specialist should be able to treat the entire range of venous issues, including varicose veins, spider veins, perforators, thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency, etc.

5) State-of-the-art lasers and equipment should be used, and all treatments should be performed via minimally invasive techniques (laser, injections, etc.) without hospitalization or general anesthesia.

6) Experience with venous billing – the office should have specific billing experience dealing with the intricacies of the various insurance providers for vein disease specifically, in order to obtain maximum coverage for you, and be willing to assist and guide you through this process. I’ve been treating vein disease since 2000, and received my certification in Venous & Lymphatic Medicine 2009, and my accreditation as and RVT and RPVI in 2008, providing my patients with the credentials they should expect from their vein specialist. Located at the Liberty Hospital Doctors’ Building, Missouri Vein Specialists offers the most comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and care available for the treatment of varicose veins, spider veins and chronic venous insufficiency/venous reflux.
